Kolob Terrace

We took a 20 mile day trip to this reservoir which is adjacent to Zion National Park at the 8000 foot level.  It was almost 30 degrees cooler than our campground which was a pleasant relief.  The winding road leading to this area was posted no vehicles over 19 feet, but I noticed several 28 foot trailers parked along the reservoir.  The shoreline was dotted with tents and RV's.  Camping is free here with no limits as long as you inhabit your site.  No improvements here other than pit toilets and a  boat launch.  If you like to get off the beaten path, this place is for you.  We did not camp here, but we enjoyed watching the baby ducks pass by with their mother.  Buddy, who was anchored to a pull strap on the tailgate of the Tahoe, destroyed it as he went after the ducks.  I managed to get him under control before he could catch one of them as it would not have been a good scene.  I had a couple beers to chase down some peanuts and off we went.  The dirt road around the lake was washed out about 7/8 of the way around and we were forced to turn around and back track around the lake.  The top picture is our Tahoe with our new kayak.  I would rate this F***** for day use and F*** for camping.
